Home Feng Shui

Understanding and applying the basic feng shui principles to your home is not that difficult. Your focus should be on the key areas that have the greatest influence on the overall feng shui of your home or property.

Once the feng shui exterior surroundings have been analyzed you can move to the other key areas of your home.

Feng Shui Key Areas

  1. The path leading up to the front door
  2. The front door
  3. The entrance hall
  4. Features in the kitchen/stove area
  5. The master bedroom

Examine the path to the front door from the side walk. Your visitors should never have to guess where the path to the front door is. Make sure there is nothing obstructing the path. Overgrown foliage is the biggest offender.

Understand that home feng shui begins or ends at your front door. The front door should be easily accessible, distinctive and inviting. Once you have entered the front door and are standing in the foyer the energy should feel balanced and settled.

The entrance hall or "bright room" is the area of first impression. This key area sets the tone for the rest of the home. The foyer should never be cluttered but should feel open, spacious and inviting. Remove any pieces that cramp the space not allowing the energy to fully circulate and disperse throughout the house.

The Feng Shui Factor covers all of the key areas in detail.

The master bedroom should be in the commanding position in the rear of the home. Master bedroom feng shui will be the strongest when the bed is located in the commanding position with a solid wooden headboard for support.

The kitchen and in particular the stove area relates to health, wealth and career. All of the five elements interact in the kitchen. Ideal stove design is a multi-burner gas range with only a hood mounted above it so as not to suppress the flames. Avoid having a microwave or other oven mounted above the range.
